Aboard the Twentieth Century, a luxury coach travelling from Chicago to New York City, love and mischief collide when bankrupt theatre producer Oscar Jaffe (Peter Gallagher) embarks on a mission to cajole glamorous Hollywood starlet Lily Garland (Kristin Chenoweth) into playing the lead in his new, non-existent epic drama.

Hijinks aboard a luxury train trip from Chicago to New York! A financially strapped producer must convince a movie star (his former lover and leading lady) to sign on for a play.

That's right theatre fans. Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth is returning to the Great White Way for the first time in over four years in a new revival of On The Twentieth Century. The show which first premiered on Broadway back in 1978 where it won five Tony Awards including Best Book and Score will also star Peter Gallagher and is being directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis.This new production which is being produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company is set to begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on February 12, 2015 and is scheduled to open on March 12, 2015. 

Now while I have never seen a production of the show I did see a 2004 production of the play which the musical is based on which also played at the same theatre. Sounds like some one at the Roundabout is a fan of the show huh? Oh and by the way I loved the play. Just the right mix of slapstick comedy and a little chaos all rolled into one. Let's hope the musical version of the show is just as hysterical. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the show here is a brief synopsis of On The Twentieth Century from the shows website. Luck, love and mischief collide when the bankrupt theater producer Oscar Jaffe (Peter Gallagher) embarks on a madcap mission to cajole glamorous Hollywood starlet Lily Garland ( Kristin Chenoweth) into playing the lead in his new, non-existent epic drama. But is the train ride long enough to reignite the spark between these former lovers, create a play from scratch, and find the money to get it all the way to Broadway?

Sounds like fun doesn't it? Now with all Roundabout Theatre productions it is usually a limited run of about thirteen or fourteen weeks but if reviews are good I'm sure it will extend.
