Musical

For many children growing up, Mary Poppins was the ultimate family favorite movie. The characters are loveable, the songs infectious, and the story relatable. There was absolutely nothing not to love about Mary Poppins on the big screen. Even if you haven't seen the movie, don't miss your chance to see this amazing show!

The show opens with Bert, a man of dubious appearance and a whole lot of good natured mystery, introducing the audience to the family living at Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane. The Banks family is seemingly perfect at first glance – a beautiful mother, handsome successful father, and two gorgeous young children. Upon closer inspection, however, we find that things aren't going quite as smoothly as one might hope. The two children, Jane and Michael, are completely out of control. They have driven away every nanny they've ever had and are driving a wedge between their parents.

The children decide to write down all of the qualities that would make a perfect nanny. Enter Mary Poppins. She is of course, not your typical nanny. In fact, she's not your typical human! She begins to introduce the children to a world of wonderment and enchantment taking place outside of 17 Cherry Tree Lane. She also slowly begins to mend the frayed bonds of Michael and Jane's parents and their own relationship with their children.

With a fabulous repertoire of songs and a whole lot of wholehearted fun, Mary Poppins is a show that everyone should see. Whether you are 7 or 70, Mary Poppins is a wonderful show to see.

Notes from James:

Still haven't seen Mary Poppins yet? Well there is no better time than the present. Now while I'll admit that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world the movie version Mary Poppins was a favorite of mine as a child. In fact I bet I saw it at least 25 times or more growing up. I guess you could say I liked it huh? I think so.

Although I was looking forward to seeing my childhood movie come to life I was a little unsure if the stage version would be as good as the film. Well as it turns out I was worried for nothing. Oh sure nobody can ever replace Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke but those two actor's along with an outstanding ensemble of Broadway veterans and newcomers made that night in the theatre one I will never forget.
