Musical

This reimagined musical is inspired by the true story of the Hilton twins, Daisy and Violet, who were legends in their time and the highest paid performers on the vaudeville circuit. Side Show tells of their search for first love and acceptance amidst the spectacle of fame and scrutiny under the spotlight. Starring Erin Davie and Emily Padgett.

Inspired by the story of real-life Siamese twins Daisy and Violet Hilton,Sideshow is about a press agent who brings the twins out of a sideshow and puts them into vaudeville. The staging has been reimagined for this production.

Notes from James:

Can I just tell you how I excited I was when I heard that Side Show was coming back to Broadway? No I didn't start doing cartwheels in my office or jumping up and down. I think I'm a little old to be doing that. Plus I couldn't do a cartwheel to save my life. Now as most of you are aware the original production was for a better word a flop. Although it did manage to snag a few Tony nominations including Best Musical of the Year. The winner that year? The Lion King which is now in it's seventeenth year on Broadway. This new production which is set to begin previews at the St. James Theatre on October 28 is scheduled to open on November 17 and will be directed by Academy Award winning director and screenwriter Bill Condon (Chicago,Dreamgirls).

Now as much as I loved the show I never thought we would ever see it again on Broadway. Like I said it was a flop. Yet her we are almost fourteen years later and the show is coming back for a second shot at redemption. Let's hope things work out a little better this time around. Now I don't know about you but I think it has a pretty good shot of making it.  First of all they got great reviews when it played at the La Jolla Playhouse last year not too mention another production which just recently closed at the Kennedy Center in June. Plus according to the show's creative team the show now has a "darker approach and incorporates new songs as well as additional biographical details of the Hilton twins' life and historical figures of the era."

Makes you want to run out and buy a ticket right now doesn't it? Now while tickets are not on sale yet I would expect in an announcement in the coming weeks. Make sure to check back her when it does because we will be selling them. By the way for those of you that are not familiar with the show you might want to check this out. It will give you a better idea of what the show is about and you get to hear some great music at the same time. Get your tickets to see Side Show at the St. James Theatre on Broadway. Who knows? I might even see you there. Until next time theatre fans.
