Drama
Harold Pinter's master work, which unspools in reverse order, reveals a hidden love affair and its effects. Starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Rafe Spall, directed by Mike Nichols.
The play explores the emotional world of betrayal, focusing on a love affair that destroys a marriage and sabotages a friendship.
Notes From James:
A new revival of Harold Pinter's Betrayal starring real-life married couple Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz on Broadway? Sounds good to me. Betrayal, which first premired in London in 1978 at the National Theatre is set to return to Broadway this fall at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. First previews is October 1 with opening night scheduled for November 3 At this time the show is set to run thru January 5, 2014. Although if reviews are good I would not be surprised if the show extends.
Now while I may not be the biggest Pinter fan in the world I did see the 2000 revival starring Tony winner Liev Screiber, Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche and Mad Men star John Slattery. It was quiet good from what I can remember. Now for those of you that are not familiar with Betrayal here is a brief synopsis about the play from the show's official website. Enjoy!
Written in 1978 and told using reverse chronology, Betrayal follows the love triangle of Emma (Rachel Weisz), who is married to Robert (Daniel Craig), but has been carrying on a long-term love affair with Jerry (Rafe Spall), Robert's best friend. The work won the 1979 Olivier Award for Best New Play and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play (foreign).
